Johnny Weir was born on July 2, 1984 in Coatesville, Pennsylvania. As a boy, Johnny participated in the equestrian (competitive horseback riding). But at the ripe old age 12, Weir discovered ice skating. His newfound ion quickly sured his love for horseback riding, and he decided to pursue his talent full time. He, his parents and his younger brother Brian packed up and moved to Delaware where he could train with his now former coach Priscilla Hill. Talk about dedicated parents!

Johnny won his first gold medal at age 16. He competed against fellow American Evan Lysacek and many others at the World Junior Championships. This first medal paved the way for countless victories, including his three straight wins in the US National Figure Skating Championships in 2004 to 2006.
