August 1991, Clutch played their first show in Maryland. They were hoping it would have big results and get them noticed cuz they were looking for a solution to their lives after high school. The group started out as "an Elephant Riders and Rock N Roll Outlaw.

The band signed with Columbia Records, and then Atlantic. They've performed with names like, Marilyn Manson, Bad Religon, Fu Manchu, and Pantera, which helped to expand their fanbase.

The guys of Clutch estimate they have each eaten a total of 40 chickens, 300 potatoes, and five hundred ears of corn from KFC in all the years that the band has been together.
All of the guys from Clutch went to high school together in Germantown, Maryland.
Tim Sult, Dan Maines, Jean Paul Gaster have another band called The Bakerton Group.
