Bucky Lasek started entering amateur competitions near his home in Baltimore and entered the world of skateboarding took off in the late 1990s, so did Bucky Lasek's career. He placed in the top ten in every event he entered in 1998 and won the gold medal in vert skateboarding at the 1999 X Games.
